SWAY, LEAP, FLICKER: A BANNER IN THREE PARTS

Exhibition of Michelle Inez Hinojosa work

Inspired by an exhibition exploring quilting, color relationships, and themes of memory, identity, and place, this design draws directly from the artist’s quilt-inspired visual language. The composition incorporates geometric shapes and layered forms that reference the quilting patterns featured throughout the installation, while the deep oranges and purples were pulled directly from the exhibition’s color palette.

The exhibition examined how color, movement, and fragmented forms can shape understanding and perception, while also connecting quilting traditions to personal and cultural histories. Reflecting these ideas, the design emphasizes rhythm, layering, and geometric composition to create a visual system that feels both structured and expressive while remaining connected to the artist’s work.
